“เกาะเมาวี” อ่วมไฟป่า – บีบีซี รายงานวันที่ 10 ส.ค. ถึงสถานการณ์ ไฟป่า รุนแรงบน เกาะเมาวี เกาะใหญ่อันดับสองของ หมู่เกาะฮาวาย ในสหรัฐอเมริกา หลังปะทุและลุกลามตั้งแต่วันที่ 8 ส.ค.ที่ผ่านมาว่า
พบผู้เสียชีวิตแล้วอย่างน้อย 36 ราย บาดเจ็บหลายสิบคน รวมถึงเจ้าหน้าที่ดับเพลิง 3 นาย และมากกว่า 12,000 คนเผชิญหน้ากับไฟฟ้าดับต่อเนื่อง
ขณะเดียวกันอิทธิพลของพายุเฮอริเคนที่พัดถล่มในมหาสมุทรแปซิฟิกส่งผลให้เกิดลมกระโชกแรงและโหมพัดให้ไฟยิ่งลุกลาม โดยพื้นที่ได้รับผลกระทบอย่างหนักคือเมืองลาไฮนา มีอาคารบ้านเรือนบางส่วน รวมถึงเสาสัญญาณและเสาไฟหลายสิบต้นก็ถูกไฟเผาไหม้ทำลายจนเสียหาย
