สวีเดนเผชิญหน้า – วันที่ 4 ม.ค. เอเอฟพี รายงานว่า สถาบันอุตุนิยมวิทยาและอุทกวิทยาแห่งประเทศสวีเดน (เอสเอ็มเอชไอ) แถลงว่าสถานีอากาศควิกจ์ยก-ออร์เรนยาร์กา ทางเหนือสุดของประเทศ วัดอุณหภูมิเมื่อวันพุธที่ 3 ม.ค. ได้ที่ -43.6 องศาเซลเซียส

ถือเป็นอุณหภูมิเดือนมกราคมที่ต่ำที่สุดของสวีเดนในรอบ 25 ปี นับตั้งแต่ปี 2542 ซึ่งวัดได้ -49 องศาเซลเซียส และต่ำสุดเป็นประวัติการณ์ของประเทศเท่ากับอุณหภูมิที่บันทึกในปี 2494
นอกจากนี้อุณหภูมิที่วัดได้ล่าสุดยังเป็นอุณหภูมิต่ำสุดของพื้นที่ดังกล่าวในรอบ 136 ปี นับตั้งแต่มีการบันทึกในปี 2431 ส่วนสภาพอากาศในหลายเมืองทางเหนือของสวีเดนมีอุณหภูมิต่ำกว่า -40 องศาเซลเซียส
