3 ผู้คิดค้น-พัฒนา “ควอนตัมดอต” – เอพี รายงานว่า คณะกรรมการรางวัลโนเบลแห่งราชบัณฑิตยสถานสวีเดนที่กรุงสต็อกโฮล์ม ประเทศสวีเดน ประกาศรายชื่อผู้รับ รางวัลโนเบลสาขาเคมี ประจำปี 2566 ได้แก่
นายเมาน์กิ จี. บาเวนดิ นักเคมีชาวอเมริกันเชื้อสายฝรั่งเศสและตูนิเซีย นายหลุยส์ อี. บรูซ ศาสตราจารย์ทางเคมีชาวอเมริกัน และนายอเล็กซี ไอ. เอคิมอฟ นักฟิสิกส์ชาวรัสเซีย
จากการเพิ่มสีให้นาโนเทคโนโลยีด้วยผลงานการค้นพบและพัฒนาควอนตัมดอต อนุภาคเล็กๆ ที่มีคุณสมบัติเฉพาะตัว สามารถกระจายแสงจากจอโทรทัศน์และหลอดไฟแอลอีดี รวมถึงกระตุ้นปฏิกิริยาเคมีและแสงที่ชัดเจนซึ่งศัลยแพทย์สามารถนำไปใช้สำหรับส่องเนื้อเยื่อเนื้องอกได้

รายงานระบุอีกว่า นายเอคิมอฟและนายบรูซประสบความสำเร็จในการสร้างควอนตัมดอต ส่วนนายบาเวนดิปฏิวัติการผลิตสารเคมีซึ่งในปัจจุบันควอนตัมดอตให้แสงสว่างแก่จอคอมพิวเตอร์และจอโทรทัศน์ที่ใช้เทคโนโลยีคิวแอลอีดี (QLED) นอกจากนี้นักชีวเคมีและแพทย์ยังใช้หลอดไฟเหล่านี้เพื่อสร้างแผนที่เนื้อเยื่อชีวภาพด้วย
โดยผู้ได้รับรางวัลทั้งสามคนจะได้รับเงินรางวัลร่วมกัน 11 ล้านโครเนอร์สวีเดน หรือกว่า 37 ล้านบาท พร้อมกันนี้ยังได้รับเหรียญรางวัลโนเบลทองคำ 18 เค และใบประกาศเกียรติคุณ
