เบื้องต้นพบผู้เสียชีวิตอย่างน้อย 22 ราย และเป็นเหตุตึกถล่มรุนแรงครั้งที่สองของเมืองแฟ็สในปีนี้ โดยเหตุอาคารถล่มเมื่อเดือนพ.ค.ที่ผ่านมาคร่าชีวิตผู้คนไป 10 ราย
สำนักข่าวเอ็มเอพีของโมร็อกโกรายงานว่าอาคารทั้งสองหลังมีผู้อยู่อาศัย 8 ครอบครัว นอกจากผู้เสียชีวิตแล้วยังมีคนได้รับบาดเจ็บอีก 16 รายซึ่งเจ้าหน้าที่นำตัวส่งโรงพยาบาลแล้ว และยังระดมกำลังค้นหาผู้ประสบเหตุที่อาจติดอยู่ใต้ซากปรักหักพัง แต่ยังไม่แน่ชัดว่ามีผู้สูญหายกี่คน ส่วนสาเหตุอยู่ระหว่างการสอบสวน

ทั้งนี้ อาคารดังกล่าวสร้างขึ้นในปี 2549 หรือเมื่อ 19 ปีก่อนภายใต้โครงการที่เรียกว่า “เมืองปลอดสลัม” แฟ็สเป็นเมืองที่ใหญ่เป็นอันดับสามของโมร็อกโก มีกำแพงล้อมรอบตลาดยุคกลาง
