บีเอ็นพีกวาดคะแนน – รอยเตอร์ รายงานวันที่ 13 ก.พ. ถึงความคืบหน้าการเลือกตั้งทั่วไปของบังกลาเทศซึ่งจัดขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 12 ก.พ.ที่ผ่านมาว่า พรรคชาตินิยมบังกลาเทศ (บีเอ็นพี) ฝ่ายกลางขวา ได้รับชัยชนะด้วยคะแนนเสียง 2 ใน 3
โดยพรรคบีเอ็นพีและพรรคพันธมิตรได้รับที่นั่งในรัฐสภาแห่งชาติอย่างน้อย 212 จากทั้งหมด 299 ที่นั่ง ส่วน พรรคจามาอัต-อี-อิสลามี และพรรคพันธมิตรคว้าไปได้ 70 ที่นั่ง

พรรคบีเอ็นพีซึ่งกลับมามีอำนาจอีกครั้งหลังจาก 20 ปี แถลงขอบคุณประชาชนหลังได้รับเสียงข้างมาก “แม้จะได้รับชัยชนะด้วยคะแนนเสียงที่ท่วมท้น พรรคบีเอ็นพีจะไม่จัดขบวนแห่หรือการชุมนุมเฉลิมฉลองใดๆ” ก่อนเรียกร้องให้สวดมนต์ภาวนาเพื่อประชาชนและประเทศชาติแทน
ขณะเดียวกันมีการคาดการณ์อย่างกว้างขวางว่านายทาริก ราห์มาน ประธานพรรคบีเอ็นพี จะได้รับการแต่งตั้งเป็นนายกรัฐมนตรีคนใหม่ นายราห์มานเป็นลูกชายของนายเซียอูร์ ราห์มาน ผู้ก่อตั้งพรรคและอดีตประธานาธิบดีบังกลาเทศ เดินทางกลับมายังกรุงธากาเมื่อเดือนธ.ค.2568 หลังพำนักอยู่ต่างประเทศเป็นเวลานานถึง 18 ปี
