เนปาลเร่งหา – เอพี รายงานวันที่ 1 ก.ย. ถึงความคืบหน้าสถานการณ์ในเนปาลและเขตปกครองตนเองทิเบต ของจีน จากเหตุการณ์น้ำท่วมรุนแรงในพื้นที่ชายแดนเมื่อวันที่ 26 ส.ค. ว่าหน่วยกู้ภัยเร่งช่วยเหลือคนงานหลายร้อยคนที่คาดว่าติดอยู่ในอุโมงค์โรงไฟฟ้าพลังน้ำที่ถูกฝังอยู่ใต้ดินโคลน

นายจาคอบ สไตเนอร์ นักธรณีวิทยาจากมหาวิทยาลัยกราซในออสเตรียซึ่งประจำอยู่ที่กรุงธากา ของบังกลาเทศ กล่าวว่า “อุโมงค์เหล่านี้ใหญ่พอที่จะขับรถบรรทุกผ่านได้ จากที่เข้าใจพวกเขาได้ส่งออกซิเจนไปให้ผู้ที่ติดอยู่ภายในบางส่วนแล้วและกำลังพยายามช่วยเหลือในตอนนี้ อย่างไรก็ตาม นี่เป็นการแข่งขันกับเวลาเพราะผู้คนต้องการอาหารและน้ำ”
