หวั่นโรคระบาดลุกลาม พบเพิ่มอีกศพสึนามิอินโดนีเซีย
หวั่นเผชิญโรคระบาดลุกลาม – เมื่อวันที่ 6 ต.ค. เอเอฟพีรายงานความคืบหน้าภารกิจกู้ภัยที่เกาะสุลาเวสี ประเทศอินโดนีเซีย จากกรณีเกิดคลื่นยักษ์สึนามิซัดเข้าถล่มบริเวณหาดเมืองปาลู ล่าสุด พบผู้เสียชีวิตอย่างน้อย 1,571 รายแล้ว ศพผู้เสียชีวิตที่พบเพิ่มนั้นอยู่ในสภาพเริ่มเน่าเปื่อย ส่งผลให้มีความเสี่ยงที่จะเกิดโรคระบาดในพื้นที่

ความเสี่ยงดังกล่าวเกิดขึ้นหลังเหตุแผ่นดินไหวแม็กนิจูด 7.5 ที่ส่งผลให้เกิดคลื่นยักษ์สึนามิซัดเข้าถล่มพื้นที่ดังกล่าวและภารกิจกู้ภัยนั้นกินเวลามานานกว่า 8 วันแล้ว ทางการอินโดนีเซียยังคงไม่ประกาศยุติปฏิบัติการค้นหาผู้รอดชีวิตแม้ความหวังจะริบหรี่ เจ้าหน้าที่สันนิษฐานว่า เขตเปโตโบ และบาลารัว ซึ่งเป็นย่านที่เสียหายหนักที่สุดจากคลื่นยักษ์ น่าจะมีศพผู้เสียชีวิตถูกฝังอยู่มากที่สุด และส่วนใหญ่น่าจะเริ่มเน่าเปื่อยแล้ว พร้อมเตือนให้พลเรือนและผู้ไม่เกี่ยวข้องออกห่างจากจุดเกิดเหตุทั้งหมด เพื่อป้องกันการติดเชื้อ

ยูซุฟ ลาทิฟ โฆษกภารกิจกู้ภัยของอินโดนีเซีย กล่าวว่า ศพผู้เสียชีวิตที่เจ้าหน้าที่พบในช่วงนี้นั้นมีสภาพที่เน่าเปื่อยและเป็นชิ้นๆ ถือว่าเป็นอันตรายต่อเจ้าหน้าที่กู้ภัยมาก ส่งผลให้ภารกิจกู้ภัยนั้นประสบกับความยากลำบากขึ้นไปอีก เพราะเจ้าหน้าที่ต้องใช้ความระมัดระวัง แม้จะได้รับวัคซีนป้องกันแล้วก็ตาม รวมทั้งยังเป็นอันตรายต่อสาธารณะ เพราะการควบคุมการแพร่ระบาดทำได้ยาก

นอกจากนี้ ภารกิจกู้ภัยยังเกิดขึ้นท่ามกลางความวุ่นวายที่ผู้รอดชีวิตบางส่วนก่อเหตุปล้นและลักขโมยตามร้านค้า ส่งผลให้เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจต้องนำกำลังเข้าระงับเหตุและจับกุมกลุ่มผุ้ก่อเหตุ สถานการณ์ในบางพื้นที่วิกฤตถึงขั้นที่ตำรวจต้องขู่ว่าจะเปิดฉากยิงใส่ ขณะที่รถบรรทุกที่ขนแก๊สหุงต้มและสิ่งของบรรเทาทุกข์บางคันนั้นถูกบรรดาผู้รอดชีวิตหลายร้อยคนรุมล้อมเพื่อพยายามแย่งชิงสิ่งของ ส่วนห้างสรรพสินค้าในพื้นที่ต้องห้ามไม่ให้ผู้คนเข้ามาจับจ่ายใช้สอย แต่ให้ยืนรอรับของที่ด้านหน้าประตู ท่ามกลางการรักษาความปลอดภัยของตำรวจพร้อมอาวุธครบมือ
