โควิด: โปแลนด์อ่วมไวรัสระบาด – วันที่ 8 มิ.ย. บีบีซี รายงานสถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดของ โรคโควิด-19 ใน ประเทศโปแลนด์ ที่ส่อวิกฤต
หลังพบผู้ติดเชื้อรายใหม่มากถึง 1,151 คนในช่วงสุดสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา โดยผู้ป่วยราว 2 ใน 3 ราว 760 คน เป็นคนงานและครอบครัวของคนงานเหมืองถ่านหินโซฟิโอว์กาในภูมิภาคไซลีเซียตอนบน ราว 307 ก.ม. ทางตะวันตกเฉียงใต้จากกรุงวอร์ซอร์
ท่ามกลางกระแสหวาดวิตกว่าผู้ป่วยกลุ่มนี้อาจแพร่เชื้อและเพิ่มจำนวนอย่างรวดเร็ว โดยภูมิภาคไซลีเซียตอนบนพบผู้ติดเชื้อมากกว่า 4,000 คน และมีผู้ป่วยใหม่เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ 7 มิ.ย. คิดเป็นร้อยละ 57 สูงที่สุดนับตั้งแต่มีการแพร่ระบาดของไวรัสมรณะในภูมิภาค ขณะที่ยอดผู้ติดเชื้อสะสมทั่วประเทศโปแลนด์เพิ่มขึ้นเป็น 26,561 คน และเสียชีวิตแล้ว 1,157 คน
ทั้งนี้ ธุรกิจเหมืองถือว่ามีความเสี่ยงต่อการเพิ่มอันตราการกระจายของโรคโควิด-19 เพราะเป็นสถานที่ปิด และมีพื้นที่จำกัด จึงไม่สามารถเว้นระยะห่างทางสังคมได้
ก่อนหน้านี้เหมืองมะโปเนง เหมืองทองที่ลึกที่สุดในโลก ใกล้กรุงโจฮันเนสเบิร์ก ของแอฟริกาใต้ เพิ่งสั่งระงับการทำเหมืองชั่วคราว หลังพบคนงานป่วยเป็นโรคโควิด-19 164 คนเมื่อปลายเดือนพ.ค.
