เฮอริเคน “ไอโอตา” คร่าพุ่ง – วันที่ 19 พ.ย. เอเอฟพี รายงานความคืบหน้าสถานการณ์ เฮอริเคน “ไอโอตา” หลังพัดถล่ม อเมริกากลาง ตั้งแต่ต้นสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาว่า แม้จะลดความรุนแรงจากระดับ 5 เป็น 4 แต่อิทธิพลของพายุยังก่อให้เกิดฝนตกหนัก น้ำท่วมสูง และดินโคลนถล่ม โดยเฉพาะในฮอนดูรัส นิคารากัว
ส่งผลให้ยอดผู้เสียชีวิตเพิ่มขึ้นเป็นมากกว่า 38 ราย ในจำนวนนี้ 18 ราย รวมถึงเด็ก 2 ราย เสียชีวิตขณะพยายามข้ามแม่น้ำทางตอนใต้ของนิคารากัว
5 รายเป็นสมาชิกครอบครัวเดียวกันในพื้นที่ตอนเหนือของฮอนดูรัส 2 รายในจังหวัดซานอันเดรส โปรบิเดนเซีย และซานคากาตาลินา ของโคลอมเบีย อีก 1 รายเป็นชาวเอลซัลวาดอร์ ถูกต้นไม้ล้มทับระหว่างขับขี่จักรยานยนตร์
