หลังทางการแถลงว่าเที่ยวบิน 2 เที่ยวของสายการบินเคแอลเอ็ม ซึ่งเดินทางจากกรุงโจฮันเนสเบิร์ก เมืองหลวงของแอฟริกาใต้ มายังท่าอากาศยานอัมสเตอร์ดัมสคิปโฮลในกรุงอัมสเตอร์ดัม ของเนเธอร์แลนด์ เมื่อเวลา 10.30 น. และ 11.00 น. ของวันศุกร์ที่ 26 พ.ย.ที่ผ่านมา
มีผู้โดยสารติดเชื้อโควิด 61 คนจากผู้โดยสารรวมกันกว่า 600 คน ในจำนวนนี้มีหายคนติดเชื้อกลายพันธุ์โอไมครอน แต่ยังไม่ระบุว่ามีกี่คน
เบื้องต้นเจ้าหน้าที่นำกลุ่มผู้โดยสารไปพักแยกกักตัวที่โรงแรมใกล้สนามบิน ส่งผลให้ทางการต้องขยายมาตรการล็อกดาวน์บางพื้นที่ออกไปจนถึงวันที่ 19 ธ.ค. และห้ามผู้เดินทางจากภูมิภาคแอฟริกาเข้าประเทศ
Sixty-one people who arrived in Amsterdam on two flights from South Africa have tested positive for Covid-19, Dutch officials say. They have been placed in isolation at a hotel near Schiphol airport. They were among some 600 passengers held for several hours after arrival while they were tested for the virus. Dutch health authorities said Omicron, labelled on Friday as a variant of concern, was “probably found in a number of people” who tested positive. REUTERS
