แผ่นดินไหว 5.6 แม็กนิจูดใน “ไซยบุรี” สปป.ลาว-ลึกแค่ 10 กิโลเมตร
แผ่นดินไหว 5.6 – วันที่ 20 ธ.ค. เว็บไซต์เอิร์ธเควก.ยูเอสจีเอส รายงานว่า สำนักธรณีวิทยาสหรัฐอเมริกา (ยูเอสจีเอส) ระบุว่า เมื่อเวลาราว 04.30 น. ตามเวลาท้องถิ่นของสาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาว (สปป.ลาว) เกิด แผ่นดินไหว 5.6 แม็กนิจูด
มีจุดศูนย์กลางราว 52 กิโลเมตร ทางตะวันตกเฉียงเหนือของแขวงไซยบุรี และลึกลงไปใต้ดินประมาณ 10 กิโลเมตร เบื้องต้นยังไม่มีรายงานความเสียหาย รวมทั้งยังไม่พบผู้เสียชีวิตหรือบาดเจ็บ
ทั้งนี้ แม้สปป.ลาวจะไม่ได้ตั้งอยู่บนวงแหวนแห่งไฟ แต่เคยประสบแผ่นดินไหวมาแล้วก่อนหน้านี้ โดยในช่วง 30 วันที่ผ่านมา มีแผ่นดินไหวที่ขนาดตั้งแต่ 5.0 แม็กนิจูด 2 ครั้ง ระหว่าง 4.0-5.0 แม็กนิจูด 3 ครั้ง ระหว่าง 3.0-4.0 แม็กนิจูด 7 ครั้ง ระหว่าง 2.0-3.0 แม็กนิจูด 15 ครั้ง และต่ำกว่า 2.0 แม็กนิจูดซึ่งปกติแทบจะไม่รู้สึกถึงความสั่นไหวอีก 8 ครั้ง
A magnitude-5.6 earthquake occurred near the Laos-Thailand border at around 04:06 ICT Dec. 20. The epicenter was about 52 km (32 miles) northwest of Sainyabuli, Laos. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and strong shaking was probably felt in areas immediately around the epicenter; light shaking was probably felt in other parts of the border region. /earthquake.usgs.gov/
There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; significant damage is unlikely outside of areas in the immediate vicinity of the epicenter. It could take several hours until authorities can conduct comprehensive damage assessments, especially in remote areas. Aftershocks are likely over the coming days. /earthquake.usgs.gov/
During the past 30 days, Laos was shaken by 2 quakes of magnitude 5.0 or above, 3 quakes between 4.0 and 5.0, 7 quakes between 3.0 and 4.0, and 15 quakes between 2.0 and 3.0. There were also 8 quakes below magnitude 2.0 which people don’t normally feel. /earthquake.usgs.gov/
