หลังจากประชาชนกว่า 1,220 คนมีอาการท้องเสียและอาเจียนรุนแรงจนต้องเข้ารับการรักษาในโรงพยาบาล ภายหลังร่วมงานเลี้ยงฉลองวิวาห์ของนายชาห์รุกข์ ข่าน ลูกชายของนายวาซีร์ ข่าน ปาทาน ประธานรัฐสภาท้องถิ่น และรับประทานอาหารที่จัดเลี้ยงในงานเมื่อค่ำวันศุกร์ที่ 4 มี.ค.

ด้านกระทรวงสาธารณสุขรัฐคุชราตระบุว่ามีผู้ร่วมงานที่ต้องเข้าโรงพยาบาลมากถึง 1,225 คน ต่อมาร้อยละ 95 ของผู้ป่วยมีอาการดีขึ้นและแพทย์ได้รับอนุญาตให้กลับบ้านได้
เบื้องต้นจ้าหน้าที่นิติวิทยาศาสตร์ลงพื้นที่เก็บตัวอย่างอาหารในเลี้ยงเพื่อส่งตรวจแล้ว และตำรวจกำลังเร่งสอบสวนเพื่อนำตัวผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องมาดำเนินคดี
According to available information, around 1,225 people were admitted to the hospitals of 6 cities and villages namely Visnagar, Mehsana, Unjha, Kheralu, Vadnagar and Gandhinagar. Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, and health officials, reached Visnagar at 3.30 a.m. in the morning after learning about the incident. /bhaskar/
Mehsana District Collector Udit Agarwal and SP also reached the hospital on Friday night. A total 1,225 patients were registered on record. After treatment, 95 per cent of patients were discharged. /bhaskar/
