สวิสจ่อทำประชามติ – เอเอฟพี รายงานวันที่ 28 พ.ค. ว่า พันธมิตรพรรคการเมืองฝ่ายซ้ายของ สวิตเซอร์แลนด์ ในความร่วมมือ กลุ่มสต๊อป-35 เปิดเผยว่าได้รับรายชื่อสนับสนุนแผนยับยั้งโครงการซื้อ เครื่องบินขับไล่เอฟ 35 ของรัฐบาล เกือบ 100,000 รายชื่อ
ตามระบอบประชาธิปไตยของสวิตเซอร์แลนด์หากมีประชาชนอย่างน้อย 100,000 คนลงชื่อเรียกร้อง รัฐบาลจำเป็นต้องทำประชามติ แต่เบื้องต้นยังไม่มีรายงานชี้ชัดว่าประชามติดังกล่าวจะจัดเมื่อไหร่

ด้าน น.ส.มาริออนน่า ชแลตเตอร์ จากพรรคกรีน ระบุว่าจากการเปิดเผยงบประมาณจัดซื้อเอฟ 35 ที่สูงมาก ประกอบกับข้อบกพร่องของเครื่องบินรุ่นนี้ ประชาชนเห็นด้วยว่าจำเป็นต้องมีการอภิปรายอย่างเร่งด่วน
ทั้งนี้ รัฐบาลสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ตกลงซื้อเครื่องบินเอฟ 35 เอ จำนวน 36 ลำจากล็อกฮีด มาร์ติน บริษัทด้านอากาศยาน ยักษ์ใหญ่ของสหรัฐอเมริกา หลังจากประชาชนลงคะแนนเห็นชอบให้กองทัพใช้งบประมาณ 6,000 ล้านฟรังก์สวิส หรือกว่า 210,000 ล้านบาทในการจัดซื้อเมื่อเดือนก.ย.2563
รวมถึงชี้แจงต่อคณะกรรมการตรวจสอบของรัฐสภาถึงเหตุผลสมควรในการซื้อเอฟ 35 ภายหลังมีรายงานปัญหาขัดข้องทางเทคนิคหลายครั้งในสหรัฐ แต่หลายฝ่ายยังต่อต้านเพราะใช้งบประมาณสูงเกินไป
