เผยไฟป่าบนเกาะอีสเตอร์ เผา “รูปปั้นโมอาย” จากศตวรรษที่ 10 เสียหาย 177 ตัว
เผยไฟป่าบนเกาะอีสเตอร์ – โกลบอลนิวส์ และ ซินหัว รายงานว่า องค์การเพื่อการศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ และวัฒนธรรมแห่งสหประชาชาติ (ยูเนสโก) เปิดเผยว่าเหตุ ไฟป่า บนเกาะอีสเตอร์ ประเทศชิลี เมื่อต้นเดือนต.ค.ที่ผ่านมา ซึ่งลุกลามเผาวอดพื้นที่กว่า 1,500 ไร่ และสร้างความเสียหายแก่ “โมอาย” (Moai) รูปปั้นหินโบราณซึ่งเป็นที่รู้จักไปทั่วโลก อย่างน้อย 177 ตัว

คณะสำรวจนำโดย นางคลอเดีย อูริเบ ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานประจำภูมิภาคในชิลีขององค์การยูเนสโก ลงพื้นที่เกาะอีสเตอร์เมื่อวันที่ 17-21 ต.ค. เพื่อประเมินขอบเขตความเสียหายที่เกิดจากไฟไหม้ รวมถึงกำหนดกระบวนการทำงานที่จำเป็นในการฟื้นฟูอุทยานและเสริมการป้องกันในอนาคต
องค์การยูเนสโกระบุอีกว่า รูปปั้นโมอายเป็นประจักษ์พยานของสังคมที่มีต้นกำเนิดจาก “ชาวโพลินีเซียน” มนุษย์โบราณกลุ่มนี้สรรสร้างสถานที่ศักดิ์สิทธิ์และรูปปั้นตั้งแต่ช่วงศตวรรษที่ 10 ถึงศตวรรษที่ 16 ซึ่งได้กลายเป็นมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมที่สร้างความตื่นตะลึงแก่คนทั่วโลกในเวลาต่อมา
