เร่งสอบปมสลด! – วันที่ 27 ก.พ. สเตรตส์ไทมส์ รายงานจากเดอะสตาร์และเบอร์นามา ถึงเหตุสะเทือนใจใน มาเลเซีย หลังจากเด็กชายวัย 12 ปี พลัดตกจากห้องพักของโรงแรมแห่งหนึ่งในรัฐซาบาห์ บนเกาะบอร์เนียวตอนเหนือ และกระแทกกับส่วนระเบียงของชั้นล่าง
ส่งผลให้เด็กชายเสียชีวิตคาที่ เบื้องต้นตำรวจนำร่างเด็กชายไปตรวจสอบเพิ่มเพิ่มและยังไม่ชี้ชัดว่าเป็นอุบัติเหตุหรือไม่

หน่วยดับเพลิงและช่วยเหลือรัฐซาบาห์เปิดเผยว่าได้รับแจ้งเหตุฉุกเฉินเมื่อเวลา 06.44 น. ตามเวลาท้องถิ่น “ตอนที่เรามาถึง ภารกิจของเราคือนำเหยื่อส่งให้ทีมแพทย์ในจุดเกิดเหตุ ที่ซึ่งเด็กชายถูกระบุว่าเสียชีวิต”
พร้อมระบุว่าเด็กชายและพ่อแม่พักอยู่ที่ชั้น 14 ของโรงแรมดังกล่าว โดยร่างของเด็กชายร่วงตกลงมา 9 ชั้นก่อนกระแทกเข้ากับระเบียงบนชั้น 5 ที่ยื่นออกมาเป็นส่วนนั่งรับลม ขณะเดียวกันสื่อหลายแห่งเผยแพร่รูปถ่ายหลังเกิดเหตุสลด โดยผู้เป็นพ่อที่กำลังร่ำไห้โน้มตัวลงกอดร่างไร้วิญญาณของลูกชาย ส่วนผู้เป็นแม่นั่งร้องไห้อยู่ใกล้ๆ
