หน่วยดับเพลิงท้องถิ่นเปิดเผยว่ารถบรรทุกสินค้าคันหนึ่งแล่นด้วยความเร็วสูงและพุ่งชนรถหลายคันอย่างแรง ส่งผลให้เกิดไฟไหม้ลุกลามเผาวอดรถหลายคันจนเหลือแค่เศษซาก ส่วนสาเหตุยังอยู่ระหว่างการสอบสวน
ด้านนายคาร์ลอส เปเรซ อัมปูเอดา รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงจัดการความเสี่ยงและการคุ้มครองพลเรือน แถลงว่าเหตุดังกล่าวมีรถยนต์ 17 คันเกี่ยวข้องและได้รับความเสียหาย ซึ่งเกิดขึ้นเมื่อรถบรรทุกความเร็วสูงชนเข้ากับรถยนต์หลายคัน
