ญี่ปุ่นยังอ่วม “เหยื่อธรณีพิโรธ” – เอพี และ เอเอฟพี รายงานวันที่ 9 ม.ค. ถึงความคืบหน้าเหตุ แผ่นดินไหวรุนแรง ขนาด 7.6 แม็กนิจูดใน ประเทศญี่ปุ่น เมื่อวันที่ 1 ม.ค.ที่ผ่านมาว่า ยอดผู้เสียชีวิตเพิ่มเป็นอย่างน้อย 202 ราย ในจำนวนนี้เป็นเหยื่อในเมืองวาจิมะ 81 ราย เมืองซูซุ 71 ราย และในเมืองอานามิซุอีก 18 ราย
ขณะที่ตัวเลขผู้สูญหายจากมากกว่า 300 รายเมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 8 ม.ค. ลดลงมาอยู่ที่อย่างน้อย 102 ราย โดยเจ้าหน้าที่จากหลายหน่วยงานยังระดมกำลังค้นหาอย่างแข็งขันท่ามกลางสภาพอากาศหนาวจัด ส่วนผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บมีราวๆ 565 ราย และบ้านเรือน 1,414 หลังพังยับเยินหรือได้รับความเสียหายอย่างหนัก
