เรือจีน-ฟิลิปปินส์ “ชนกันอีก” – วันที่ 17 มิ.ย. เอเอฟพี รายงานว่า เกิดเหตุเรือจีนชนเข้ากับเรือฟิลิปปินส์บริเวณ หมู่เกาะสแปรตลี ในพื้นที่พิพาท ทะเลจีนใต้
เพียง 2 วันหลังหน่วยยามชายฝั่งจีนประกาศเริ่มใช้กฎข้อบังคับใหม่ซึ่งอนุญาตให้เจ้าหน้าที่หน่วยยามชายฝั่งจีนควบคุมตัวชาวต่างชาติในทะเลจีนได้นานถึง 60 วันโดยไม่ต้องมีการพิจารณาคดี

หน่วยยามชายฝั่งจีนระบุในแถลงการณ์ว่า “เรือส่งเสบียงของฟิลิปปินส์เพิกเฉยต่อคำเตือนอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์หลายประการจากจีน เรือลำดังกล่าวเข้าใกล้เรือของจีนด้วยวิธีที่ไม่เป็นมืออาชีพและส่งผลให้ชนกัน”
จีนยังกล่าวหาว่าเรือของฟิลิปปินส์รุกล้ำพื้นที่ทางทะเลใกล้แนวสันดอนโธมัสที่ 2 หรือที่จีนเรียกว่าแนวปะการังเหรินอ้าย พร้อมย้ำว่าหน่วยยามชายฝั่งจีนใช้มาตรการควบคุมเรือฟิลิปปินส์ถูกต้องตามกฎหมาย
ขณะที่ทางการฟิลิปปินส์ตำหนิหน่วยยามชายฝั่งของจีนว่ามีพฤติกรรมป่าเถื่อนและไร้มนุษยธรรมซึ่งก่อนหน้านี้ประธานาธิบดีเฟอร์ดินันด์ มาร์กอส จูเนียร์ กล่าวว่าข้อบังคับใหม่ของจีนนั้นเพิ่มความน่ากังวลเป็นอย่างยิ่ง
