จับโจ๋วัย 18 – วันที่ 13 ส.ค. เอเอฟพี รายงานว่า เกิดเหตุสะเทือนขวัญใน ประเทศตุรกี หลังจากคนร้ายสวมหน้ากาก หมวกกันน็อก และเสื้อกันกระสุน ใช้มีดด้ามยาวไล่แทงผู้คนบริเวณสวนด้านนอกมัสยิดใน เมืองเอสคีเชฮีร์ ทางตะวันตกเฉียงเหนือ เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 12 ส.ค.ตามเวลาท้องถิ่น ส่งผลให้มีผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บ 5 ราย

สื่อตุรกีหลายแห่งระบุว่าผู้ต้องสงสัยเป็นชายวัย 18 ปี พกขวานไว้ตรงเอวและถือมีดยาวไล่แทงระหว่างไลฟ์สตรีมเหตุการณ์ผ่านแอปพลิเคชั่นเอ็กซ์ ก่อนถูกตำรวจจับกุมในเวลาต่อมา
นอกจากนี้ยังกล่าวด้วยว่าผู้ต้องสงสัยสวมใส่สัญลักษณ์ ดวงอาทิตย์สีดำ สัญลักษณ์ที่ถูกใช้โดยกลุ่มนีโอนาซี มีลักษณะเป็นเครื่องหมายสวัสดิกะของกองทัพนาซีเยอรมันหลายชิ้นประกอบกันเป็นวงกลม
โดยผู้ก่อเหตุไม่ได้ตะโกนหรือแสดงแรงจูงใจใดๆ แต่หนังสือพิมพ์ชั้นนำจุมฮูริเยต์รายงานว่าคนร้ายได้รับอิทธิพลจากเกมสงคราม ส่วนแรงจูงใจนั้นเจ้าหน้าที่กำลังเร่งสอบสวน
