ปากีสถานยังวิกฤต – รอยเตอร์ รายงานวันที่ 17 ส.ค. ถึงสถานการณ์ภัยพิบัติใน ประเทศปากีสถาน ว่ายอดผู้เสียชีวิตเพิ่มเป็นมากกว่า 307 ราย หลังฝนตกหนักต่อเนื่องเป็นวันที่สองและมีน้ำท่วมเป็นบริเวณกว้างในพื้นที่ภาคตะวันตกเฉียงเหนือ
ด้านทางการท้องถิ่นเปิดเผยว่า เจ้าหน้าที่ยังเคลื่อนย้ายสิ่งกีดขวางบนถนนเพื่อเปิดเส้นทางที่ถูกตัดขาดและเร่งช่วยเหลือชาวบ้านที่ประสบภัย ขณะเดียวกันแถลงเตือนให้ประชาชนเฝ้าระวังเพราะสำนักงานอุตุนิยมวิทยาคาดการณ์ว่าจะมีฝนตกหนักไปจนถึงวันที่ 21 ส.ค.

รายงานระบุด้วยว่าเหยื่อส่วนใหญ่อยู่ในพื้นที่ภูเขาของแคว้นไคเบอร์ปักตูนควา และยังมีผู้สูญหายจำนวนมาก นอกจากปากีสถานแล้ว บางส่วนของประเทศเพื่อนบ้านอย่างอินเดียและเนปาลก็ได้รับผลกระทบจากฝนที่ตกกระหน่ำและน้ำท่วมฉับพลันในช่วงสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา
สำหรับพื้นที่ที่ได้รับผลกระทบมากที่สุดในปากีสถานคือเขตบูเนอร์ในแคว้นไคเบอร์ปักตูนควา ห่างจากกรุงอิสลามาบาด ไปทางเหนือราว 3 ชั่วโมงครึ่ง มีรายงานพบผู้เสียชีวิตมากถึง 184 ราย ขณะที่โครงสร้างพื้นฐาน อาคารบ้านเรือน และพื้นที่เพาะปลูกได้รับความเสียหายอย่างกว้างขวาง
