“เรามีประสบการณ์อย่างกว้างขวางในการรับมือกับโรคติดเชื้อจากการระบาดใหญ่ของโควิด-19” นายโมฮัมหมัด อาซัม อาหมัด ปลัดกระทรวงศึกษาธิการ กล่าว ก่อนเสริมว่าได้เตือนโรงเรียนต่างๆ ให้ปฏิบัติตามแนวทางเหล่านี้ โดยส่งเสริมการใช้หน้ากากอนามัยและลดกิจกรรมกลุ่มใหญ่ของนักเรียน
ทั้งนี้ ทางกระทรวงไม่ได้ระบุจำนวนโรงเรียนที่ถูกปิด แต่กล่าวว่าตรวจพบการติดเชื้อในหลายพื้นที่ทั่วประเทศ สัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมากระทรวงสาธารณสุขมาเลเซียรายงานการแพร่ระบาดไข้หวัดใหญ่แบบกลุ่ม 97 แห่งทั่วประเทศ เพิ่มขึ้นจาก 14 แห่งในสัปดาห์ก่อนหน้า ส่วนใหญ่พบในโรงเรียนและอนุบาล
