บริษัท ปาสโค ชิคิชิมะ ระบุด้วยว่าจนถึงขณะนี้ยังไม่มีรายงานพบผู้ป่วยหลังรับประทานขนมปัง “โชจูกุ” ขนมปังขาวแบบแผ่น และว่าขนมปังประมาณ 104,000 ห่อถูกเรียกคืนในพื้นที่แผ่นดินใหญ่ของประเทศ ตั้งแต่กรุงโตเกียวไปจนถึงภูมิภาคอาโอโมริ ทางตอนเหนือ

ทั้งนี้ การเรียกคืนอาหารนั้นถือเป็นกรณีที่เกิดขึ้นได้ยากมากในญี่ปุ่น เนื่องจากญี่ปุ่นเป็นประเทศที่มีมาตรฐานด้านสุขอนามัยในระดับสูง

Food recalls are rare in Japan, a country with famously high standards of sanitation, and Pasco Shikishima Corporation said it was investigating how the rodent remains had crept in to its products.
