ศาลอิตาลีคุก 31 คน – เอพี และ บีบีซี รายงานวันที่ 17 ก.ค. ว่า ศาลอิตาลีพิพากษาโทษอดีตประธาน บริษัท ออโตสตราเด แปร์ ลิตาเลีย (เอเอสพีไอ) บริษัทบริหารเครือข่ายทางหลวงพิเศษของประเทศ และผู้ต้องสงสัยอีก 31 คนที่ถูกตัดสินว่ามีความผิดใน เหตุสะพานมอเตอร์เวย์เอ 10 หรือ สะพานโมรันดี พังถล่มจนมีผู้เสียชีวิต 43 รายเมื่อปี 2561

หัวหน้าผู้พิพากษาเปาโล เลปรี ระบุเมื่อวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 16 ก.ค.ตามเวลาท้องถิ่นว่า นายจิโอวานนี คาสเตลลุชชี อดีตประธานเอเอสพีไอ ถูกตัดสินจำคุก 12 ปี
นายคาสเตลลุชชีจำคุกมาแล้ว 6 ปี เป็นหนึ่งในจำเลย 57 คนของคดีที่ถือเป็นโศกนาฏกรรมเลวร้ายที่สุดครั้งหนึ่งของอิตาลี ด้านทนายความของนายคาสเตลลุชชีกล่าวว่าจะยื่นอุทธรณ์โทษเพราะคำตัดสินมีข้อบกพร่องอย่างมาก
ขณะเดียวกันศาลยังพิพากษาจำคุก 11 ปี นายมิเคเล ดอนเฟอร์ริ มิเตลลี เจ้าหน้าที่ระดับสูงอีกคนของเอเอสพีไอ ส่วน นายเปาโล แบร์ติ อดีตรองผู้บริหารระดับสูงของเอเอสพีไอ ถูกตัดสินให้จำคุก 5 ปีครึ่งซึ่งน้อยกว่าที่อัยการเรียกร้องถึง 7 ปี

รายงานระบุด้วยว่าจำเลยหลายคนถูกตัดสินจำคุกไม่ถึง 2 ปี และอีก 25 คนถูกยกฟ้องหรือไม่มีความผิดเนื่องจากคดีหมดอายุความแล้ว
ทั้งนี้ อัยการยื่นขอต่อศาลให้ตัดสินจำคุกจำเลยทั้ง 57 คนเป็นเวลา 400 ปีในข้อหาต่างๆ รวมถึงฆ่าคนโดยไม่เจตนาและละเลยการบำรุงรักษาทางยกระดับซึ่งออกแบบโดย นายริคคาร์โด โมรันดี เมื่อปี 2510 โดยจำเลยทั้งหมดปฏิเสธว่าไม่ได้ทำผิด
