โควิด: โบลิเวียจับรมต. – วันที่ 21 พ.ค. เอเอฟพี และ ฟร็องซ์ 24 รายงานว่า โฆษกสำนักงานตำรวจโบลิเวียแถลงว่า เจ้าหน้าที่นำกำลังจับกุม นายมาร์เซโล นาบาฮาซ รัฐมนตรีกระทรววงสาธารณสุขโบลิเวีย ผู้ต้องสงสัยคอร์รัปชั่นงบประมาณสนับสนุนจากธนาคารเพื่อการพัฒนาระหว่างทวีปอเมริกาเพื่อจัดซื้อเครื่องช่วยหายใจสำหรับรักษาผู้ป่วยโรคโควิด-19 ซึ่งในประเทศมีจำนวนผู้ติดเชื้อสะสมที่ 4,481 คน เสียชีวิตแล้ว 189 คน
โดยเกิดขึ้นเพียง 1 วันหลังจาก นางยานิเน อันเญซ รักษาการประธานาธิบดี สั่งให้เร่งตรวจสอบกรณีดังกล่าว นอกจากนายนาบาฮาซแล้ว ตำรวจยังจับกุมเจ้าหน้าที่ระดับสูงของกระทรวงสาธารณสุขอีก 2 คนที่ต้องสงสัยว่าร่วมกันทุจริต

ก่อนหน้านี้ กระทรวงสาธารณสุขโบลิเวียจัดซื้อเครื่องช่วยหายใจจากโรงงานในสเปนจำนวน 179 เครื่อง ราคาเครื่องละประมาณ 881,000 บาท รวมเป็นเงินกว่า 159 ล้านบาท
แต่ต่อมามีข้อมูลรั่วไหลว่าโรงงานผู้ผลิตเครื่องช่วยหายใจเสนอขายต่อกระทรวงสาธารณสุขที่เครื่องละ 331,000-384,000 บาท รวมเป็น 68.7 ล้านบาท ถูกกว่าราคาที่กระทรวงสาธารณสุขแจ้งไว้มากกว่า 2 เท่า
