ออสซี่ผวา! – บีบีซี รายงานวันที่ 5 ก.ค. ว่า เกิดเหตุ ฉลามโจมตี ชายวัย 36 ปี ทราบชื่อในเวลาต่อมาคือ นายแมตธิว แทรตต์ ขณะใช้หอกตกปลาหาปลาใกล้เกาะเฟรเซอร์ ทางตอนเหนือของเมืองบริสเบน รัฐควีนส์แลนด์ ประเทศออสเตรเลีย เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่ 4 ก.ค.ที่ผ่านมา
โดยเหยื่อถูกกัดเป็นแผลฉกรรจ์ที่ขา และแม้หน่วยแพทย์ฉุกเฉินจะรุดเดินทางมายังจุดเกิดเหตุ แต่ไม่สามารถช่วยเหลือได้และชายคนดังกล่าวเสียชีวิตราว 2 ชั่วโมงครึ่งหลังถูกกัด
ถือเป็นผู้เสียชีวิตจากเหตุฉลามโจมตีรายที่ 4 ของประเทศนับตั้งแต่ต้นปีที่ผ่านมา ขณะที่ทางการท้องถิ่นประกาศเตือนภัยให้นักท่องเที่ยวและประชาชนหลีกเลี่ยงการลงเล่นน้ำในพื้นที่ใกล้จุดเกิดเหตุ

โดยเหยื่อ 3 รายก่อนเหตุสลดเมื่อวันเสาร์ ได้แก่ ชายวัย 60 ปีที่ถูกฉลามขาวความยาวกว่า 3 เมตร กัดจนเสียชีวิตระหว่างเล่นกระดานโต้คลื่นทางตอนเหนือของรัฐนิวเซาท์เวลส์ เมื่อเดือนมิ.ย.
อีกรายเป็นเจ้าหน้าที่ป่าไม้รัฐควีนสแลนด์ วัย 23 ปี โดนฉลามโจมตีจนถึงแก่ความตายใกล้แนวปะการังเกรตแบร์ริเออร์รีฟ เมื่อเดือนเม.ย. ส่วนชายนักดำน้ำวัย 57 ปี ถูกฉลามกัดเสียชีวิตนอกชายฝั่งรัฐเวสเทิร์นออสเตรเลีย เมื่อเดือนม.ค.
A Sunshine Coast man has died following a fatal shark bite off Fraser Island on Saturday. The 36-year-old man was spearfishing in the waters off Indian Head when he was bitten by a shark. A doctor and nurse provided first aid to the man on the shore, before paramedics attended the scene and performed CPR. AP
He was given first aid by an off-duty doctor and nurse after making it to the rocky shore at the base of the large headland, while paramedics and a rescue helicopter rushed to the scene just after 2pm. /noosanews/

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Fraser Coast mayor George Seymour said it was a “tremendously sad day for our community”. He offered his condolences to the victim’s family and friends, adding that the loss of life was “a tragedy beyond words and we share their sadness and grief”. /deeperblue/Facebook/
