นักโทษผวา “ติดโควิดอื้อ” ลุกฮือประท้วง จนท.ยิงดับ-เจ็บพุ่ง 65 คน!
นักโทษผวา “ติดโควิดอื้อ” – บีบีซี และ เอเอฟพี รายงานวันที่ 30 พ.ย. ว่า เกิดเหตุจลาจลที่เรือนจำเมืองมหารา ชานกรุงโคลอมโบ ประเทศศรีลังกา เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ 29 พ.ย.ตามเวลาท้องถิ่น
หลังจากนักโทษรวมตัว ประท้วง ท่ามกลางความหวาดผวาการแพร่ระบาดของ โรคโควิด-19 ซึ่งทางการระบุพบผู้ติดเชื้อราว 1,000 คน เหล่านักโทษจึงเรียกร้องให้ยกระดับการป้องกันและพิจารณาการปล่อยตัวก่อนกำหนด
แต่สถานการณ์บานปลายและเกิดการปะทะระหว่างเจ้าหน้าที่คุมเรือนจำกับนักโทษ ส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตอย่างน้อย 8 ราย และอีก 55 คนบาดเจ็บ ด้านสื่อท้องถิ่นระบุว่าเจ้าหน้าที่เปิดฉากกราดยิงเพื่อสลายการประท้วง แต่ทางการยังไม่ยืนยันข้อเท็จจริง
ขณะเดียวกันมีรายงานพบผู้ป่วยใหม่เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ 29 พ.ย. อีก 496 คน รวมติดเชื้อสะสมในศรีลังกาเพิ่มขึ้นเป็น 23,484 คน และเสียชีวิตแล้ว 116 ราย

Police spokesman Ajith Rohana said guards had “used force to control an unruly situation” in the Mahara prison. Around 1,000 cases have been reported from the country’s overcrowded prisons. (AFP)
