รายงานระบุว่านายไบอาร์ตเดินทางออกนอกประเทศและหนีไปกบดานที่เมืองโบกาชิกา ของสาธารณรัฐโดมินิกัน เมื่อปี 2557 หลังจากตำรวจออกหมายจับตามข้อกล่าวหาลักลอบนำโคเคนเข้าประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์ จากนั้นเจ้าหน้าที่ก็ไม่พบร่องรอยของนายไบอาร์ตอีกเลย
กระทั่งเห็นคลิปวิดีโอทำอาหารบนยูทูบ แม้เจ้าของคลิปจะปกปิดใบหน้า แต่ตำรวจจำได้ทันทีว่ารอยสักตามร่างกายเป็นของนายไบอาร์ต จึงประสานงานกับองค์การตำรวจอาชญากรรมระหว่างประเทศ (อินเตอร์โพล) ซึ่งนำกำลังจับกุมนายไบอาร์ตได้เมื่อวันพุธที่ 24 มี.ค.ที่ผ่านมา ก่อนที่ทางการโดมินิกันจะส่งผู้ร้ายข้ามแดนกลับมาดำเนินคดีที่อิตาลี
