สเปนเดินหน้า “แบนโสเภณี” – บีบีซี รายงานวันที่ 18 ต.ค. ว่า นายกรัฐมนตรีเปโดร ซานเชซ ผู้นำสเปน แถลงว่าจะเดินหน้าเสนอร่างแก้ไขให้ การค้าประเวณี ผิดกฎหมาย เนื่องจากอาชีพดังกล่าวเข้าข่ายกดขี่ผู้หญิง
ทั้งนี้ การค้าประเวณีในสเปนไม่ถือเป็นอาชญากรรมตั้งแต่ปี 2538 ข้อมูลจากการศึกษาของสหประชาชาติ (ยูเอ็น) ระบุว่าสเปนเป็นศูนย์กลางการค้าประเวณีที่ใหญ่ที่สุดเป็นอันดับ 3 ของโลก รองจากประเทศไทยและเปอร์โตริโก กับจำนวนหญิงขายบริการกว่า 300,000 คน อย่างไรก็ตาม ในแต่ละปีมีผู้หญิงหลายหมื่นคนตกเป็นเหยื่อค้ามนุษย์และถูกบังคับให้ขายบริการทางเพศ
ขณะเดียวกันข้อมูลจากปี 2559 พบว่าอุตสาหกรรมทางเพศของสเปนมีมูลค่ามากถึง 3,700 ล้านยูโร หรือ 143,000 ล้านบาท และจากการสำรวจในปี 2552 พบว่าผู้ชายสเปน 1 ใน 3 คนซื้อบริการทางเพศ แต่คาดว่าปัจจุบันจะมีอัตราการซื้อบริการที่สูงร้อยละ 39

Prostitution was decriminalised in Spain in 1995 and in 2016 the UN estimated the country’s sex industry was worth €3.7bn (£3.1bn, $4.2bn). /inspain.news/
A 2009 survey found that up to 1 in 3 Spanish men had paid for sex. However, another report published in 2009 suggested that the figure may be as high as 39% and a 2011 UN study cited Spain as the third biggest centre for prostitution in the world, behind Thailand and Puerto Rico. AP
