กล้องโทรทรรศน์จีนใน “แอนตาร์กติกา” เริ่มสำรวจหา “ดาวเคราะห์คล้ายโลก”
กล้องโทรทรรศน์จีนใน “แอนตาร์กติกา” – ซินหัว รายงานว่า คำแถลงต่อสื่อมวลชนจากสถาบันบัณฑิตวิทยาศาสตร์จีน ระบุว่าหมู่กล้องโทรทรรศน์ขนาดเล็กของจีน ซึ่งติดตั้งอยู่ในทวีปแอนตาร์กติกา ได้เริ่มปฏิบัติงานสังเกตการณ์ดาวเคราะห์นอกระบบสุริยะหรือดาวเคราะห์ที่มีลักษณะคล้ายโลกแล้ว
หมู่กล้องโทรทรรศน์ข้างต้นประกอบด้วยกล้องโทรทรรศน์ใช้แสง 4 ตัว และกล้องโทรทรรศน์อินฟราเรดระยะใกล้ 1 ตัว ถูกติดตั้งอยู่ที่สถานีวิจัยจงซานของจีน ซึ่งถือเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของภารกิจสำรวจแอนตาร์กติก ครั้งที่ 38 ของประเทศ

ก่อนหน้านี้ เสวี่ยหลง (Xuelong) และ เสวี่ยหลง-2 (Xuelong-2) เรือตัดน้ำแข็งขั้วโลกของจีน ออกเดินทางจากเทศบาลนครเซี่ยงไฮ้เมื่อเดือนพ.ย.2564 เพื่อปฏิบัติภารกิจสำรวจและกลับสู่ประเทศเมื่อเดือนเม.ย.ที่ผ่านมา
สถาบันบัณฑิตวิทยาศาสตร์จีนระบุอีกว่าหมู่กล้องโทรทรรศน์ข้างต้นถูกติดตั้งอยู่บนฐานระบบศูนย์สูตร โดยเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลางหน้ากล้องของกล้องใช้แสงอยู่ที่ 150 มิลลิเมตร ส่วนของกล้องอินฟราเรดระยะใกล้อยู่ที่ 200 มิลลิเมตร
ทั้งนี้ แอนตาร์กติกามีแนวโน้มเป็นพื้นที่ที่เหมาะสมกับการสำรวจทางดาราศาสตร์ โดยจีนได้ติดตั้งกล้องโทรทรรศน์สำรวจในแอนตาร์ติกาแล้ว 2 ตัว ได้แก่ เอเอสที3-1 (AST3-1) และเอเอสที3-2 (AST3-2)

A small Chinese telescope array mounted in Antarctica has started operation to observe exoplanets or Earth-like planets, according to a news release by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on Wednesday. The facility, consisting of four optical telescopes and a near-infrared one, has been installed at China’s Zhongshan Station during the country’s 38th Antarctic scientific expedition.
