เวียดนามสั่งคุก – ซินหัว รายงานจากเวียดนามนิวส์ว่า ศาลเวียดนามพิพากษาจำคุกผู้ต้องสงสัย 4 คน เป็นเวลารวมกัน 18 ปี ในข้อหาลักลอบขนเกล็ด ตัวนิ่ม น้ำหนักกว่า 984 กิโลกรัมซึ่งถือเป็นหนึ่งในคดีค้าสัตว์ป่าที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศ
รายงานระบุว่าหัวหน้าขบวนการค้าสัตว์ป่ากลุ่มนี้เป็นหญิงชาวเวียดนามจากจังหวัดหวิญฟุก ทางตอนเหนือของประเทศ ถูกตัดสินจำคุก 7 ปี ขณะที่หญิงผู้ต้องสงสัยอีกคนมาจากกรุงฮานอย ถูกตัดสินจำคุก 5 ปี ในความผิดฐานเป็นนายหน้า

ขณะที่ผู้ต้องหาอีกสองคนเป็นชาวจังหวัดหวิญฟุก ถูกตัดสินจำคุก 4 ปี และ 2 ปีในข้อหาขนส่งเกล็ดตัวนิ่มอย่างผิดกฎหมาย
ทั้งนี้ ตัวนิ่มถูกจัดเป็นสัตว์ป่าคุ้มครองเนื่องจากความต้องการเนื้อและเกล็ดมีเพิ่มมากขึ้น โดยตัวนิ่มบางสายพันธุ์ถูกกำหนดให้เป็นสัตว์ป่าใกล้สูญพันธุ์ในบัญชีแดงของสหภาพระหว่างประเทศเพื่อการอนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติ (IUCN) ขณะที่กฎหมายเวียดนามสั่งห้ามมิให้มีการล่า ฆ่า ขัง ค้าขาย หรือขนส่งสัตว์ป่า
This was one of the biggest cases of wildlife trading so far in the country, daily newspaper Vietnam News reported. Among them, a woman from the northern Vinh Phuc province, who was the leader in the case, was sentenced to seven years in prison, while another woman from the capital Hanoi was jailed for five years for her role as a broker.
