วันที่ 10 ส.ค. เอเอฟพี รายงานความคืบหน้า น้ำท่วมเกาหลีใต้ ครั้งร้ายแรงที่สุดในรอบหลายสิบปีว่า ยอดผู้เสียชีวิตเพิ่มขึ้นเป็น 9 รายแล้ว ขณะที่ประธานาธิบดียุน ซ็อก-ย็อล ผู้นำเกาหลีใต้ กล่าว “ขออภัยในความไม่สะดวก” ต่อประชาชนชาวเกาหลีใต้ พร้อมเปิดเผยว่าปริมาณน้ำฝนที่เทลงมามากที่สุดใน 115 ปี หรือนับตั้งแต่มีการเก็บข้อมูลมา

ในจำนวนผู้เสียชีวิต มี 3 รายอยู่ในอพาร์ตเมนต์กึ่งใต้ดินสำหรับผู้มีรายได้น้อย หรือ “บันจีฮา” ซึ่งประธานาธิบดียูนเดินทางไปด้วยตัวเองและยอมรับว่าชาวเกาหลีใต้ได้รับความเสียหายรุนแรง พร้อมกล่าวว่าตนจะพุ่งเป้าการให้ความช่วยเหลือกลุ่มผู้ที่มีความเสี่ยงสูงเป็นพิเศษ
