เผยโฉมฐานประทับ “พระใหญ่เล่อซาน” – ซินหัว รายงานว่าแม่น้ำสาขาของแม่น้ำแยงซี จำนวน 3 สาย มีระดับน้ำลดลงเพราะภัยแล้งในช่วงไม่นานนี้ ส่งผลให้เห็นส่วนฐานของ “พระใหญ่เล่อซาน” มรดกโลกขององค์การเพื่อการศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ และวัฒนธรรมแห่งสหประชาชาติ (ยูเนสโก) ซึ่งอยู่นอกเมืองเล่อซาน มณฑลเสฉวน ทางตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ของจีน

พระพุทธรูปดังกล่าวแกะสลักขึ้นริมผาภูเขาเล่อซาน และตั้งอยู่ในจุดที่แม่น้ำสาขาทั้งสามสายไหลมาบรรจบกัน ได้แก่ แม่น้ำหมิ่นเจียง แม่น้ำชิงอี และแม่น้ำต้าตู้ โดยงานสร้างเริ่มต้นปี 1256 สมัยราชวงศ์ถัง (ปี 1161-1450) และใช้เวลาแกะสลักกว่า 90 ปี
ทั้งนี้ ศูนย์อุตุนิยมวิทยาแห่งชาติจีน ระบุว่าบางพื้นที่ของมณฑลเจียงซู อันฮุย เหอหนาน หูเป่ย เจ้อเจียง ฝูเจี้ยน เจียงซี หูหนาน กุ้ยโจว ฉงชิ่ง เสฉวน ส่านซี กานซู่ และทิเบตได้รับผลกระทบจากภัยแล้งระดับปานกลางถึงรุนแรง
