มองโกเลียพบฟอสซิล – ซินหัว รายงานว่า หน่วยงานท้องถิ่นเขตปกครองตนเองมองโกเลียใน ทางตอนเหนือของ ประเทศจีน เปิดเผยการค้นพบ ฟอสซิลรอยเท้าไดโนเสาร์ ในเขตอนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติแห่งชาติรอยเท้าไดโนเสาร์เอ้อทัวเค่อ เมืองเอ้อเอ่อร์ตัวซือ จำนวนรวม 53 ชิ้น อายุเก่าแก่ราว 120 ล้านปี โดยชิ้นใหญ่สุดมีความยาว 43 เซนติเมตร
นายจาง หลี่ฟู นักวิจัยท้องถิ่น ระบุว่าพื้นที่ดังกล่าวเคยเป็นพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำและทะเลสาบที่มีพืชพรรณอุดมสมบูรณ์ใน “ยุคครีเทเชียส” (cretaceous) รวมถึงเป็นที่อยู่อาศัยของไดโนเสาร์หลายสายพันธุ์ โดยฟอสซิลรอยเท้าที่พบนี้เป็นของไดโนเสาร์กินเนื้อ

ทั้งนี้ เขตอนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติแห่งชาติรอยเท้าไดโนเสาร์เอ้อทัวเค่อครอบคลุมพื้นที่ราว 290,000 ไร่ เป็นเขตอนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติระดับชาติแห่งเดียวในจีนที่มีรอยเท้าไดโนเสาร์เป็นหลัก โดยมีการค้นพบฟอสซิลรอยเท้าไดโนเสาร์มากกว่า 10 ชนิด เกือบ 10,000 ชิ้น พร้อมฟอสซิลของสัตว์มีกระดูกสันหลังโบราณ ปลา เต่า จระเข้ สัตว์ไม่มีกระดูกสันหลัง และสัตว์อื่นๆ
ด้านนายตั่ง จ้านผิง เจ้าหน้าที่สำนักงานจัดการเขตอนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติระดับชาติเอ้อเอ่อร์ตัวซือตะวันตก กล่าวว่าหน่วยงานกำลังดำเนินงานปกป้องฟอสซิลที่ถูกค้นพบเหล่านี้
