ประธานาธิบดีมัลดีฟ์ “พ่ายศึกเลือกตั้ง” – บีบีซี รายงานวันที่ 1 ต.ค. ถึงผลการเลือกตั้ง ประธานาธิบดีมัลดีฟส์ รอบสองเมื่อวันที่ 30 ก.ย.ที่ผ่านมาว่า
ประธานาธิบดีอิบราฮิม โมฮาเหม็ด โซลีห์ จากพรรคเอ็มดีพี ฝ่ายกลาง-ขวา พ่ายแพ้ต่อนายโมฮาเหม็ด มูอิซซู คู่แข่งจากพรรคพีเอ็นซี ฝ่ายขวา ที่คะแนนร้อยละ 45.96 ต่อร้อยละ 54.04 และนายมูอิซซูมีกำหนดทำพิธีสาบานตนรับตำแหน่งอย่างเป็นทางการในวันที่ 17 พ.ย.

ทั้งนี้ นายมูอิซซูซึ่งเป็นอดีตนายกเทศมนตรีกรุงมาเล ชูนโยบาย “อินเดียเอาต์” ต่อต้านการมีอิทธิพบของอินเดียเหนือมัลดีฟส์
ตรงข้ามกับอุดมการณ์ของนายโซลีห์ที่มีนโยบาย “อินเดียเฟิสต์” หรือคำนึกถึงอินเดียก่อน ผลการเลือกตั้งครั้งนี้จึงถือเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนสำคัญของมัลดีฟส์ รวมถึงบทบาทของจีนที่ขยายอิทธิพลมากขึ้นในหลายพื้นที่ทั่วเอเชีย
