รายงานระบุว่าภาคกลาง ตะวันออก และตะวันตกของมองโกเลียมีฝนตกหนักตั้งแต่ช่วงเช้าวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 20 มิ.ย. ก่อนเกิดหิมะฤดูร้อนตกตั้งแต่วันศุกร์ที่ 21 มิ.ย.แม้มองโกเลียมีสภาพภูมิอากาศแบบภาคพื้นทวีปที่แปรปรวน แต่การเหิกหิมะตกในฤดูร้อนถือเป็นปรากฏการณ์ที่หายาก
ทั้งนี้ สำนักงานการจัดการเหตุฉุกเฉินแห่งชาติมองโกเลียกระตุ้นเตือนสาธารณชนระมัดระวังภัยพิบัติที่อาจเกิดขึ้นได้ ขณะที่หน่วยงานอุตุนิยมวิทยาของมองโกเลียคาดการว่าสภาพอากาศแปรปรวนนี้จะยังคงเกิดขึ้นจนถึงสุดสัปดาห์
