สหรัฐยังอ่วม “ภัยหนาว” – บีบีซี รายงานวันที่ 7 ม.ค. ถึงความคืบหน้าสถานการณ์ ภัยหนาว ใน สหรัฐอเมริกา ว่า ยอดผู้เสียชีวิตจากสภาพอากาศหนาวจัดเพิ่มเป็นอย่างน้อย 6 รายในพื้นที่ 5 รัฐ ได้แก่ รัฐเท็กซัส มิสซูรี แคนซัส เวอร์จิเนีย และนอร์ทแคโรไลนา

ในจำนวนนี้รวมถึงชายคนหนึ่งซึ่งถูกพบเป็นศพด้านนอกป้ายรถเมล์ในเมืองฮูสตัน รัฐเท็กซัส เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 6 ม.ค.ที่ผ่านมา โดยทางการท้องถิ่นยืนยันว่าผู้ตายเสียชีวิตจากอากาศหนาวจัด
ขณะเดียวกันบางพื้นที่ของรัฐแคนซัสมีปริมาณหิมะตกมากเป็นประวัติการณ์เกินกว่า 46 เซนติเมตร ประชาชนราว 250,000 คนใน 6 รัฐเผชิญหน้ากับไฟฟ้าดับต่อเนื่อง มากกว่า 2,200 เที่ยวบินถูกยกเลิกและส่งผลกระทบต่อผู้ใช้บริการราว 23,000 คน
