ซานโตรินียังอ่วมแผ่นดินไหว! – วันที่ 11 ก.พ. บีบีซี รายงานสถานการณ์ภัยธรรมชาติบน เกาะซานโตรินี แหล่งท่องเที่ยวยอดนิยมของ ประเทศกรีซ หลังเกิด แผ่นดินไหว ต่อเนื่องหลายระลอกตั้งแต่ต้นเดือนก.พ. โดยล่าสุดเมื่อเย็นวันที่ 9 ก.พ.ตามเวลาท้องถิ่น มีแผ่นดินไหวขนาด 5.3 แม็กนิจูด และลึกลงไป 17 กิโลเมตร
แรงสั่นสะเทือนรับรู้ได้ถึงกรุงเอเธนส์ซึ่งอยู่ห่างออกไปประมาณ 300 กิโลเมตร และถือเป็นแผ่นดินไหวที่รุนแรงที่สุดในช่วง 10 วันที่ผ่านมา ส่วนช่วงเช้าวันจันทร์ที่ 10 ก.พ. มีแผ่นดินไหวรุนแรงเกิน 4.0 แม็กนิจูด จำนวน 3 ครั้ง

ห้องปฏิบัติการธรณีวิทยาประจำมหาวิทยาลัยแห่งเอเธนส์เปิดเผยว่าระหว่างวันที่ 26 ม.ค. ถึงวันที่ 8 ก.พ. ตรวจพบแผ่นดินไหวมากกว่า 12,800 ครั้ง และก่อให้เกิดดินถล่มในหลายพื้นที่บนเกาะซานโตรินีซึ่งประชาชนราว 11,000 คนอพยพออกไปแล้ว
ก่อนหน้านี้นักธรณีวิทยาคาดการณ์ว่าความรุนแรงของแผ่นดินไหวจะเริ่มลดลง แต่ตอนนี้กังวลว่าอาจรุนแรงขึ้นและประกาศภาวะฉุกเฉินบนเกาะซานโตรินีจะบังคับใช้จนถึงวันที่ 3 มี.ค. เป็นอย่างน้อย
