เผยศาลจีน – ซินหัว รายงานการปฏิบัติงานของศาลประชาชนสูงสุดของจีน โดยเสนอต่อที่ประชุมสภานิติบัญญัติแห่งชาติเพื่อการพิจารณาเมื่อวันที่ 8 มี.ค.ที่ผ่านมาว่า
ในปี 2567 จีนดำเนินการปราบปรามอาชญากรรมร้ายแรงอย่างเข้มงวดด้วยการตัดสินคดีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับอาชญากรรมร้ายแรงจำนวน 49,000 คดี เช่น คดีการฆาตกรรม ซึ่งตัวเลขนี้ลดลงร้อยละ 5.8 จากปี 2566 และลดลงร้อยละ 28.7 จากเมื่อ 10 ปีก่อน

รายงานระบุว่าศาลจีนยังใช้มาตรการตามกฎหมายอย่างเข้มงวดและรวดเร็วเมื่อต้องจัดการกับกลุ่มผู้ก่ออาชญากรรมร้ายแรงที่ท้าทายหลักกฎหมายและมาตรฐานทางศีลธรรม โดยในปี 2567 ศาลตัดสิน ประหารชีวิต ผู้ก่อเหตุฆาตกรรมหมู่ 2 ราย
รายแรกคือนายฟ่าน เหว่ยชิว ถูกตัดสินว่ามีความผิดฐานสร้างความสูญเสียมหาศาลจากการขับรถพุ่งใส่ฝูงชนที่ศูนย์กีฬาในมณฑลกวางตุ้ง ทางตอนใต้ อีกรายคือนายสวี เจียจิน ถูกตัดสินว่ามีความผิดจากการใช้มีดไล่แทงที่โรงเรียนอาชีวศึกษาแห่งหนึ่งในมณฑลเจียงซู ทางตะวันออก ส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิต 8 ราย และ 17 รายได้รับบาดเจ็บ
