ทั้งนี้ เมื่อปี 2567 ออสเตรเลียทุ่มเงิน 127 ล้านดอลลาร์ออสเตรเลีย (ราว 2,670 ล้านบาท) เพื่อยกระดับอู่ต่อเรือเฮนเดอร์สัน และจะใช้งบประมาณอีกหลายพันล้านดอลลาร์ในอีก 20 ปีข้างหน้าเพื่อเปลี่ยนอู่ต่อเรือแห่งนี้ให้กลายเป็นศูนย์กลางการซ่อมบำรุงกองเรือดำน้ำของกลุ่มออคัส
รัฐบาลออสเตรเลียยังระบุว่าอู่ต่อเรือแห่งนี้จะสร้างเรือยกพลขึ้นบกลำใหม่ให้กองทัพบกออสเตรเลียและเรือฟริเกตอเนกประสงค์ให้กองทัพเรือซึ่งจะช่วยสนับสนุนตำแหน่งงานในท้องถิ่นประมาณ 10,000 ตำแหน่ง
