ไฟยังลุกลามต่อเนื่องและเจ้าหน้าที่ไม่สามารถควบคุมได้ ส่งผลให้อาคารบ้านเรือนอย่างน้อย 84 หลังได้รับความเสียหาย และเผาผลาญพื้นที่ไปแล้วกว่า 3,750 ไร่
ขณะที่ทางการท้องถิ่นเมืองโอฟูนาโตะสั่งอพยพประชาชนราว 2,060 คนในทุกพื้นที่ของเขตซันริคุโช เรียวริ อีก 54 คนในเขตอัตตาริ และจนถึงช่วงค่ำวันพุธมีชาวบ้าน 584 คนอพยพไปยังศูนย์พักพิงที่ทางการจัดตั้งขึ้น

City officials say at least 84 houses and other buildings have been damaged. Police say the blazes started on Wednesday afternoon, and are spreading in districts including Attari of Akasakicho, and Koji and Tahama of Sanrikucho Ryori. (同市提供)
The flames had reportedly burned an area of more than 600 hectares as of 5 p.m. Wednesday. Ofunato authorities issued an evacuation order for 2,060 people in 850 households in all areas in Sanrikucho Ryori and 54 people in 23 households in the Attari district. /NHK/
