ชาวบ้านประท้วง – วันที่ 20 ก.ค. เอเอฟพี และ ซีบีเอสนิวส์ รายงานว่า เกิดเหตุ ไฟฟ้าดูด บนสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำในเขตจาโมลี รัฐอุตตราขัณฑ์ ทางตอนเหนือของ ประเทศอินเดีย หลังหม้อแปลงไฟฟ้าซึ่งตั้งอยู่ริมฝั่งแม่น้ำอลัคนันทะเกิดระเบิด เป็นเหตุให้สายไฟตกลงมาบนรั้วเหล็กกั้นของสะพานและดูดฝูงชนที่อยู่บนสะพานจนเสียชีวิตอย่างน้อย 15 ราย รวมแล้วมีผู้เสียชีวิต 16 ราย
ตำรวจรัฐอุตตราขัณฑ์เปิดเผยว่าได้รับแจ้งว่ามีเจ้าหน้าที่ดูแลโครงการแม่น้ำของภาครัฐถูกพบว่าโดนไฟฟ้าชอร์ตเสียชีวิตเมื่อค่ำวันอังคารที่ 18 ก.ค. ต่อมาชาวบ้านรวมตัวประท้วงเรียกร้องความยุติธรรมให้เจ้าหน้าที่คนดังกล่าว
ขณะที่ตำรวจซึ่งนำกำลังเข้าตรวจสอบก็ต้องผงะกับเหตุร้ายซ้ำสองที่เกิดขึ้นเพราะหม้อแปลงระเบิด ส่งผลให้ชาวบ้าน 22 คนบนสะพานถูกไฟชอร์ต รวมถึงผู้เสียชีวิต 15 ราย ในจำนวนนี้มีเจ้าหน้าที่รักษาความปลอดภัย 4 ราย และมีอีกหลายคนที่อาการยังสาหัส
At least 15 people died after being electrocuted while protesting the earlier death of another person by electric shock at a government river project in India, officials and reports said Thursday. At least 11 others were injured in the accident in the Chamoli district of the northern state of Uttarakhand. /ANI/
